Nowadays cannabis oil is slowly starting to get more recognized as a medicine as many new studies start to research its potential. A new research in Colorado is done and a Marijuana and Health Symposium at National Jewish Health is held these days about the effectiveness of marijuana in handling seizures and insomnia.
Coltyin Turner is a 15-year old boy that has been fighting Crone’s disease since he’s been 11 years old. He handles the disease by taking cannabis oil 4 times a day. “I’d rather be illegally alive than legally dead,” said Coltyn.
He turned to cannabis treatment a year ago when he started to lose the fight with the disease. “I was just on every pharmaceutical there was out there until I would up in a wheelchair,” Coltyn said. His case was presented at the National Jewish Health’s Marijuana and Health Symposium.
Ken Gershman from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced that nine current and upcoming studies will research the effectiveness of marijuana in treating disorders going from insomnia and inflammatory bowel disease to PTSD.
“We can’t bury our heads in the sand. We need to learn more and make sensible decisions based on evidence,” said Gershman.
Coltyin’s parents are very satisfied with the researches going on because they want every family that faces a disease that could be cured with cannabis to be able to use the oil as a first option rather than as a last resort.
